River of Thyme
A river of memory, myth, and England — twenty-one songs carried home from a journey.
This album began as a research trip and became a pilgrimage. Traveling through Bath, Glastonbury, Stonehenge, and Oxford, and along the Rivers Avon and Thames, maiam went looking for mythology and literary history — and the places themselves began speaking through music. Each song arrived as an experience, a question, or a portal.
You will walk through the Chalice Well gardens, stand at Stonehenge on the Spring Equinox, and sit in the pub where Tolkien and C.S. Lewis once gathered. Oxford Girls honors the women who completed their studies at Oxford yet were denied their degrees. Minerva, Unicorns, and Caer Sidi weave ancient stories into modern questions of technology, consciousness, and belonging. And Blue Crystal Night Dream — the mirror bridge — was released in a moment of deep global uncertainty, and has already carried one listener through his darkest night.
Through it all runs a single sprig of thyme, gifted at the Chalice Well gardens, traveling in journals and beside the computer as the album was made. Memories, myths, histories, futures, and frequencies — flowing together. Come wade in.
